Debut Digital Single: “I’m Rising”

Legacy Music is proud to announce the official debut digital single “I’m Rising” from emerging New Zealand singer and recording artist Lavinia Winter, performing under the artist name LaVee.

Grounded in whakapapa and cultural identity, Lavinia affiliates to Ngāti Ruanui and Te Ātiawa, with ancestral connections to Taranaki (te Maunga), Aotea (te Waka), and the Waitōtoroa and Tangāhoe awa. Her marae are Parihaka and Taiporohenui, her hapū Ngāti Moeahau and Hamua, and her whānau, Winter, Campbell, and Tito, remain central to her artistic journey.

Lavinia’s love for music began in childhood, singing alongside her father and his band at whānau gatherings and community events. Throughout her school years, she continued to develop her performance craft through kapa haka, band work, and competitive singing, laying a strong foundation as a confident and expressive vocalist.

Her notable career highlights include winning her heat on Homai Te Pakipaki and performing regularly at the Bowl of Brooklands for Taranaki’s Christmas in the Park, one of the region’s most celebrated annual events.

With more than a decade of consistent live performance and competition experience behind her, LaVee now steps forward as a recording artist with clear artistic direction and purpose. Influenced by legendary voices such as Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Whitney Houston, and Tina Turner, LaVee brings a big voice, soulful edge, and an easy, natural connection with her audience. Her sound blends soul and pop, balancing powerful vocals with warmth, playfulness, and honesty.

“I’m Rising” is a statement of resilience, self-belief, and emergence, capturing the spirit of an artist claiming her space with confidence and heart. It marks the beginning of LaVee’s recorded journey as she builds toward performing across Aotearoa and internationally, while continuing to release new music.
